Restore a backup

  1. Choose a JSON backup
  2. Check backup
  3. Checked. Review the two saves below.
  4. Restore this backup

This replaces progress and collections. Your current save is kept separately.

Before your last restore: Preview original for restore.

Continue, free continue, restart and replay: what changes?

Continue returns to an existing attempt. Restart creates fresh targets while keeping your wallet, weapons and campaign progression. They solve different problems.

Continue a paused room

Choose Continue room in Adventure or on the current room’s map preview. This resumes the saved or paused fight. Browsing the map or Arsenal does not itself replace the room.

Continue free after defeat

Choose Continue free · 100 HP on the defeat screen. You return at the room’s entry point with 100 HP. Broken objects, damage to surviving enemies and coins remain; Cry Burst charge resets. This option requires no in-game payment.

Restart the room

Restart this room asks for confirmation, then starts a new attempt with fresh objects and enemies. Coins, unlocked weapons, shared growth, quality and cleared-room progress remain. Choose Keep my current room to cancel the confirmation.

Replay an unlocked room

Select the room on Level Map and confirm the fresh attempt. Destroyed objects can pay coins and add growth again in that attempt. The room’s first-clear bonus is paid only once.

A room restart is not a reset of the entire campaign. Clearing the website’s stored data is a different action and can remove the campaign and collection. For combat controls, use the pause and menu guide.

Where does Banana Cat save progress?

The campaign uses the browser’s local storage. It includes coins, cleared and unlocked levels, unlocked and equipped weapons, shared growth, quality, refinements, preferences and the current run. It has no account-based cloud save or automatic cross-device sync.

Return through the same browser profile and website address. A different browser, profile, private session or device can have separate storage. A different website origin also has separate storage: for example, an address using www is not the same origin as one without it. A redirect does not merge the two saves.

This Banana Cat campaign does not merge progress with the separate Idle Cat Gunner game. Opening another game’s site cannot retrieve this campaign’s saved room.

When is progress saved?

The game attempts to save regularly during active combat, when opening menus and when leaving the page. Read the in-game save status after pausing. A success message means the browser accepted that save; storage restrictions, lack of available space or a browser error can prevent it.

  1. Before taking a break: open the pause or adventure menu.
  2. Check the save message: if it reports a failure, keep that page open and use the checks below.
  3. When returning: open the same address and browser profile, then choose Continue for the current attempt.

Local saving cannot guarantee that a browser will retain data forever. Browser cleanup, deleting site data or ending a private session may remove it. Download a complete backup to keep an off-device copy of saved progress, medals and postcards. Internal recovery copies remain in this browser.

Banana Cat will not load: protect your progress first

A page that will not open and a missing save are different problems. Your campaign is stored in this browser; the site becoming available again does not restore deleted browser data.

  1. The page will not open. Keep any tab with unsaved progress open. Retry the same site address later; do not clear site data as a first fix.
  2. The game opens with different progress. Check the original address, browser and profile before starting over.
  3. You can see the correct progress. Pause the game and export a full backup before changing browsers or restoring another save.

My Banana Cat progress is missing: what should I check?

First check where you are loading the save. Do not clear site data, edit storage records or treat a new browser session as recovery. Those actions can make the original progress harder to preserve.

  1. Keep any tab that still shows the right progress open. Pause it and note the room, coins and visible save message. If that tab reports a save failure, closing it may lose progress held only in memory.
  2. Compare the full address. Use the same domain and address form as before, including whether it used www. Do not assume two similar addresses share a save.
  3. Check the browser and profile. A work profile, personal profile, another browser and another device can each have different storage. Return to the one used for the original run.
  4. Check private mode and storage access. If the original run was private, its storage may no longer exist after that session ends. If storage is blocked, restore the site’s storage access without deleting existing data.
  5. Read the game’s save or load warning. A protected or unreadable save is not proof of a fresh campaign. Preserve that page and follow the message-specific guidance below.

If data was already deleted and no saved copy remains in that browser, an account login cannot restore it: there is no account recovery service for this campaign. An analytics event or a screenshot of progress is not a playable save.

What do the save warnings mean?

  • Progress saved: the current campaign write succeeded. Keep using this browser and address.
  • Device could not save / keep this page open: the current session may have progress that has not reached storage. Keep it open; check site storage access and available space without deleting this site’s data.
  • Progress saved, independent backup could not be refreshed: the main save succeeded, but the extra local copy could not be updated. This is different from losing the main save.
  • Saved progress could not be loaded / original preserved: the game protects the original record and pauses automatic replacement. Do not delete it or start editing its contents. Note the exact warning before further troubleshooting.
  • Collection could not be saved: this concerns the separate medal record. Follow collection recovery; it does not by itself mean the campaign is missing.

Some save messages are shown in Chinese. 进度已保存在这台设备 means progress was saved on this device; 设备未能保存,请保持此页面打开 means the device could not save and the page should remain open.

Returning after a game update

When your current tab reports a successful save, close older game tabs before opening the updated game. Keep one game tab open to reduce competing writes from different sessions. If a tab reports unsaved progress, resolve that warning before closing it.

The current version can migrate supported older campaign saves. It validates the old record and keeps a local backup before replacing it. That backup stays in the same browser; it is not cloud storage. An invalid or incompatible save is protected from automatic replacement rather than silently overwritten with a new campaign.

For rooms 21–30, an attempt saved before the new encounter update keeps its previous enemies and attack behavior. Start a new attempt to meet the new cast; continuing a saved fight does not replace its enemies.

Some older room layouts need position adjustments: if new furniture overlaps a saved character, the character can move to a nearby free space and an old attack can be cancelled. This is separate from choosing Restart. Check the game updates for the release context, and use Continue to return to an existing attempt when available.

Why can medals look different from campaign progress?

Adventure medals and their read/unread state use a separate browser database, IndexedDB. The game checks medal eligibility against verified campaign progress. A campaign save and a collection save can therefore have different status messages.

  • Collection saving is temporarily unavailable: the fight can continue. Use Retry collection save when that button is offered.
  • Earlier achievements are restored quietly: supported achievements found in valid campaign progress can be reconciled without showing them as newly earned in this session.
  • Collection is read-only or a record is invalid: the original collection is kept unchanged. A protected campaign does not award new medals or change their read state.

Medals do not restore a lost wallet or run. Clearing all site data can remove both records even though they are stored separately.

How to collect all 21 postcards

Finish any one room today, including a replay, to make your next uncollected postcard available. Choose Claim postcard on the result screen or in Collection. You can claim one card per local calendar day, starting with Saved You a Bite for a new collection. Room 1 counts; you do not need to reach a later room.

A new day begins at midnight on your device. Finish another room that day to earn the next card. Missing a day does not remove cards or skip ahead, and extra clears do not earn extra cards that day. Opening the game, viewing or sharing a card, and clears saved from earlier days do not qualify. Both today’s clear and the manual claim must save successfully. Your collection is complete after all 21 cards are claimed.

Select a claimed card to open its artwork. The first postcard has its public share page; the twenty additional cards offer Open your postcard and Save image for their own artwork.

Claimed postcards use their own browser collection record. They stay available in Collection when you return through the same browser and address. If saving fails, keep this page open and retry; a failed claim is not shown as collected. Sharing a card does not transfer your game progress or unlock it in another player’s collection. Clearing site data can also remove claimed postcards.

Analytics is separate from your save

Optional Google Analytics helps us understand visits and gameplay events after you choose Allow analytics. Opening a guide or clicking Play is not itself counted as starting a game.

The game does not send its full saved campaign to Analytics. Custom gameplay events describe activity such as level, outcome, duration and upgrade; Google may also collect standard analytics information such as cookies and device information. Use Privacy choices in the footer to allow or decline analytics. Optional analytics stays off until you allow it. If analytics is blocked or unavailable, the game can still run.

Analytics is not a backup or account recovery system. For help with play itself, use the quick fixes in How to Play.

Find or move your saved game

The www and main addresses have separate saves in this browser. Nothing moves automatically.

Pause the game and close other game tabs before exporting or restoring.

  1. Open www backup
  2. Open main-address backup

Compare both saves before restoring. The destination save is kept separately; progress is replaced, not merged. Keep the downloaded file and check your progress and collections in the game.
