Enemy attacks: what to watch and what to do
Read the floor first. A name helps identify the cat, but the shape of its warning tells you how to move. Clear the marked danger before trying to finish an enemy. These are the attacks in this browser shooter; other Banana Cat games use different rules.
| Enemy | Warning / attack | Your response | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meowpin / Didi | Ring volley with an open gap | Find the gap before the seven shots spread out. Keep room to reach it. | Backing into a wall while watching only the cat |
| Happy Cat / Paw Cat | Nearby circle, then a paw swipe | Leave the circle while the paws are raised. | Waiting for both visible paw gestures |
| Cream Cat | Three-projectile fan | Move sideways across the locked firing direction. | Running straight back down a projectile lane |
| OIIA / Spinning Tabby | Straight charge lane | Cross the side of the warning before the charge begins. | Retreating along the same line |
| Shy Tabby | Slow, shootable heart | Shoot it or move clear, especially before a nearby charge. | Treating a zero-damage attack as harmless |
| Golden-Eyed Black Cat | Circle at its planned landing spot | Leave the marked spot and stay out until the leap ends. | Returning to the old spot too early |
| Shield Dog / Drog | Guard, slash, and later a charge | Move out of the warned area, then use the recovery opening. | Firing into the front of an active shield |
Furniture changes which direction is reachable. See the cover-positioning illustration before trying to dodge into a sofa or counter. If touch aiming chooses a different target, check the auto-aim rules.
Your character: Banana Cat

The meme: The yellow suit and tearful face come from Banana Cat, also called Sad Banana Cat or Crying Banana Cat. Know Your Meme records banana-suit cat edits shared by Sin Achilles in 2021, followed by the character’s appearance in Happy Cat story videos in 2023. Our hero is a 2D cartoon interpretation of that familiar look.
In the game: A small cat with a growing arsenal. Break objects, earn coins, and clear a path through thirty rooms. Destruction builds lasting weapon progress, so the early pistol soon gives way to new ways to shoot.
Keep moving between shots. Fixed furniture can protect you, but it blocks your shots too. Find a clear angle before you commit to an attack.
What carries across rooms?
Banana Cat is the playable character; the other cats on this page are opponents, not an unlockable hero roster. Your weapon growth is shared across the arsenal, so changing guns does not mean starting that growth again. Use the destruction milestone table to see the next stage, or follow the first-room walkthrough if you have just started.
Meowpin / Didi: find the gap

The meme: This round, wide-eyed cat is commonly called Meowpin or the Dam Dam Didi Didi Cat, after the sound paired with its bobbing dance edits. You may also see the Chinese name 妙脆角小猫. The Meowpin reference entry records these names, but it is still a submission under review. The exact authorship of the edited image remains unverified.
In the game: Called Didi in this guide, it appears in the first level and fires a ring of seven shots with an open gap. Read the warning and head toward that gap before the volley reaches you.
When another cat joins the fight, leave enough room to dodge its attack as well. A safe opening in one volley is only useful if you can reach it.
How to deal with Didi beside other cats
Decide on your exit during the windup, then check that it does not cross a Paw Cat circle or spinning charge. Moving closer to the gap is useful only while you still have space to leave. If furniture cuts off the route, reposition around an edge instead of trying to move through it.
Didi starts in level 1, so you can learn the ring before later rooms mix it with more attacks. A new gun does not remove the need to dodge: compare weapons by the firing angle you actually have.
Happy Cat / Paw Cat: leave the circle

The meme: Happy Happy Happy Cat is the tiny kitten bouncing on its hind legs and waving its front paws. WeKnowledge’s account of the trend preserves a November 2015 post by @1Nssu showing the kitten. Its later musical pairing is My Happy Song by Super Simple Songs.
In the game: That raised-paw silhouette becomes Paw Cat. Raised paws mean trouble up close. Paw Cat approaches, marks a short-range attack, then swipes. Step out of the warning circle while it prepares.
The two visible paw gestures belong to one attack. Do not wait for the second gesture before moving. You meet Paw Cat in level 1.
Make space before taking another shot
Once Paw Cat closes in, a short sideways move out of the circle is more useful than holding your position for another burst. Check the route behind you before retreating toward a corner. Close-range weapons can fit a clear opening, but their range is not a reason to stay inside an active swipe.
The Popcorn Shotgun entry explains that range tradeoff. For movement while firing, use the desktop controls or touch controls.
Cream Cat: watch the fan

Name note: Cream Cat is an in-game name for this pale, round cat. Its original meme name has not been established.
First appearing in level 3, Cream Cat opens its mouth and sends three shots out together in a fan. It fixes the attack direction when it starts preparing, giving you time to move across the marked direction.
The mouth animation is a warning, not three separate firing turns. Watch the projectile lanes and nearby cover.
Cross the fan instead of chasing its center
The three projectiles belong to one volley. Start a sideways move when the warning locks, and watch the outgoing lanes as they spread. Fixed furniture can interrupt shots, but Cream Cat can reposition for another attack; a clear corner is a temporary opening.
Meet it in level 3, then use the warning-shape guide when fan shots and other attacks overlap.
OIIA Spinning Cat: cross the lane

The meme: The short-legged tabby behind OIIA OIIA, widely called Spinning Cat, is Ethel. Her owner explains the original photo’s history; the spinning music edit is a later creation. A key early version is 黑瘦的鱼头’s April 2023 remix. The spinning motion comes from editing a still photo.
In the game: Called Spinning Tabby in this guide, it first appears in level 7. In combat, this tabby curls into a spinning charge. It locks a straight lane before launching, so moving sideways across the warning is more useful than retreating along it.
The charge does not turn to follow you. In the current game, fixed furniture can stop it, but a cat may route around the furniture before its next attack.
Why running away in a straight line fails
The charge lane already points at the position you occupied when its warning began. Staying on that line keeps you in the attack path, even if you increase your distance. Cross the lane, let the charge finish, then choose a fresh firing angle. A second cat may still be attacking during the recovery.
Spinning Tabby arrives in level 7. Later rooms give it company; read how new waves enter rather than assuming each visible group is the last.
Shy Tabby: break the hearts

Name note: Shy Tabby is an in-game name based on the orange cat’s blushing expression. We have not established a specific original meme or creator for this reference.
Shy Tabby arrives in level 9 with a slow-moving heart. You can shoot the heart before it reaches you or move around it.
A heart slows movement by 30% for one second without dealing direct damage. The slowdown does not stack or extend, but it can make another cat's attack harder to escape.
Clear the heart before a movement check
A heart is most troublesome when a circle or charge is about to force a quick dodge. If you have a clean shot, remove it before committing to a longer attack. On touch controls, a nearby shootable heart can take auto-aim priority, which explains why your fire may briefly leave an enemy.
Try a rapid stream of Soda Sprayer shots when you need to adjust aim frequently. Cry Burst does not clear enemy projectiles, so it is not a substitute for shooting the heart.
Golden-Eyed Black Cat: leave the landing spot

Name note: This is an in-game descriptive name for the dark cat peeking up with large golden eyes. The reference has circulated as a product illustration; its original artist and a specific meme name remain unverified.
Watch the eyes, then the floor. From level 11, this cat crouches and pounces toward the position marked when its warning begins.
Move out of the landing circle during the windup. The pounce does not keep tracking your new position, and its hit is checked at the end of the leap.
Watch the destination, not just the flying cat
The important area is the landing circle. Moving away and immediately stepping back into it can still put you at the impact point when the leap finishes. Once you have left it, check the next nearest warning before returning to attack.
Black Cat joins in level 11. At this stage, Cry Burst may already be unlocked, but it does not grant invulnerability; keep dodging while using it.
Shield Dog / Drog: work around the guard

The meme: The boss takes its cue from Drog, also known as Cheems Frog. Its armed variation is called Sword-and-Shield Doge or Wo De Dao Dun. The documented timeline traces the dog-and-frog image to 2020 and the sword-and-shield wave to 2026. The “What the Dog Doin’” audio associated with later edits has a separate history.
In the game: The Shield Dog waits at the end of each five-level chapter. Its guard reduces frontal damage, so look for a side angle and use the recovery after an attack.
- Level 5 teaches its close-range slash.
- Level 10 adds a straight shield rush.
- Level 15 chains a rush into a separately warned slash.
- Level 20 adds a second phase and two finite reinforcements.
- Level 25 brings the rush-and-slash combination to the Laundry Loft.
- Level 30 ends the rooftop chapter with two phases and two reinforcements: Shy Cat, then Spinning Cat.
The boss enters after the preceding ordinary cats are defeated. See the chapter guide for the full route.
How to beat the shield without wasting the opening
- During guard, reposition. The active front shield reduces incoming damage by 80%. Look for a side angle, keeping furniture out of your own line of fire.
- During the warning, get clear. Cross the charge lane or leave the slash sector. Do not move in just because the shield is no longer guarding.
- Check for the second warning. In the rush-and-slash encounters, the charge is followed by its own slash warning. A stopped charge is not automatically your attack window.
- Use the recovery, then reset. Fire from a clear angle after the sequence ends. Move again as the next guard or warning begins.
At levels 20 and 30, keep watching the ordinary cats introduced by the second phase. These are finite reinforcements and still count toward the room clear. Use the boss-opening guide for the phase sequence and the chapter milestones to prepare before each encounter.
Eight new encounters upstairs · Rooms 21–30
Each of rooms 21–28 introduces one new encounter before the other enemies join. Rooms 29–30 combine these attacks. These are descriptive names for this game’s adaptations, not verified original meme titles or creator attributions. Existing saved attempts keep their previous behavior; the new encounters begin on a fresh attempt.
| First room / enemy | Warning and attack | Your response |
|---|---|---|
| 21 · Scared Hamster | Raises its cross, then swipes a close sector. | Leave the marked sector during the windup. |
| 22 · Smug Goat | Lowers its body, then charges along a short straight lane. | Cross the lane sideways; do not retreat along it. |
| 23 · Crying Cat | Marks your position and drops a tear pool there. | Leave the circle before the drop; avoid the pool until it disappears. |
| 24 · Fire Chihuahua | Raises a paw, then stamps a fire circle in front of itself. | Clear the circle and stay out while the flames remain. |
| 25 · Mellow Capybara | Rolls its citrus fruit down a marked lane. | Dodge or hit the fruit with two separate shots. One shotgun blast counts once, even if several pellets connect. |
| 26 · Marmot Duo | Two separate enemies coordinate a forward shove. | Cross the shove lane. Defeating either partner ends the pairing; the survivor uses a slower close attack. |
| 27 · Shrug Guardian | Two palm circles appear together; the strikes land half a second apart. | Leave both circles. The second mark is not an escape spot from the first. |
| 28 · Screaming Marmot | Inhales, then sends an expanding sound-wave arc through a sector. | Leave the sector or use fixed furniture to interrupt the wave’s path. |
Fire, tears and sound waves remain dangerous after release. Read the ground effect as well as the character’s recovery pose. Rooms 21–28 allow at most one attack group at once; rooms 29–30 allow at most two. A lingering hazard still occupies its group.
Use the Laundry Loft and Rooftop Garden room tables for the remaining enemies, boss phases and weapon unlocks.
When two different attacks overlap
Choose the move that gets you out of the immediate warning first. There is no single enemy order that is safe in every room, because furniture, distance and the current windups change the available exit.
- Heart plus charge: shoot the heart if the shot is already clear, but leave the charge lane rather than standing still to finish it.
- Didi ring plus a close swipe: approach the ring gap through open floor, not through Paw Cat's circle.
- Pounce plus boss warning: leave the landing spot in a direction that also escapes the boss sector or lane. Do not return to the old spot until the leap is over.
- Enemies on opposite sides of furniture: use one edge to create an angle, then check the other side before stopping to shoot.
Need a different tool for the opening? Use the weapon choice table. If the visible enemies are gone but the room stays active, follow the room-clear checklist. Return to the Banana Cat Wiki to find a specific level, weapon or save question.
